THE GREAT CRITIQUE
Join us for The Great Critique, our free SCBWI Utah/S. Idaho summer event. Foster good critiquing skills and meet potential critique group members in this small-group event at several locations throughout our region. For a small fee, attendees may also receive a written critique from an editor or agent.
Registration opens June 1, 2013. Sign up for the critique group nearest you that meets your critique needs, then send an electronic copy of your manuscript to us by June 15, 2013. You will receive an email with attachments for all members of your group by June 30, 2013.
All critique events meet August 24, 2013 in various locations throughout our region. Please print out a copy of each manuscript and critique each one prior to the critique event. Bring these hard copies with you to return to each member of your group. On the night of the event, your group will meet at the assigned location. One of our volunteer facilitators will lead each critique group and each member of the group will have about a 10-minute critique, first from members of the group and then, if available and the attendee agrees, the written critique from the industry professional will be shared. This allows all members of the group the opportunity to learn from each other and the professional critiques.
Though the critique event is free, you may choose to purchase a written professional critique from an editor or agent. Written critiques are $40 for SCBWI members and $50 for non-members. An electronic copy of your manuscript must be emailed to us by June 15, 2013. A hard copy of the critique can be picked up during the Great Critique on August 24, 2013 at the location you sign up for. Any critiques that are not picked up at the event will be emailed later.
